Why am I so passionate about making investment accessible?
Well, it's personal.
I'm Jess, and I'm a multi-award-winning Chartered Financial Planner, Certified Money Coach, international speaker, and self-confessed Behavioural Finance Nerd. I've even written an Amazon bestseller on building your own wealth.
Sounds fancy, right? But I didn't start out this way.
I started out in the world of finance completely by accident - through a temp job with a stockbroker. I was confused by financial jargon, intimidated by the world of investing, and frankly, a bit scared of messing it all up. I thought investing was for 'other people' – you know, the ones who always seemed to have their lives sorted. The clients I talked to on the phone who had funds and fund managers and probably butlers.
But, as I educated myself, I learnt that actually the amount of money I had (or didn’t have) wasn’t the problem - it was how investing was being taught and talked about. The financial industry seemed determined to make everything as complicated as possible!
That's when I decided to change things. I made it my mission to translate all that financial mumbo-jumbo into plain English. To strip away the complexity and show people that investing isn't some mysterious art – it's a skill that anyone can learn.
